It is the wish of every individual to earn a decent salary and lead a happy life. However, there are many who do not focus on money but strive to work for the betterment of society instead of their own accomplishment. The story of IAS Ayush Goel is something similar.
The young bureaucrat left his high-paying job to prepare for UPSC and guess what! He cleared India’s toughest exam with AIR 171, that too without any coaching, a report in DNA India stated. Goel left his lucrative career with a big pay cheque of Rs 28 lakh with the intent to pass the UPSC exam and serve the country.
Born and brought up in Delhi, Goel's father was a grocery store owner and his mother was a homemaker. After studying in Hindi medium Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, he went on to prepare for his CAT exam.
He then went on to get a degree in Economics from Hansraj College of Delhi University and later went to study at IIM Kozhikode, Kerala. Later, he joined JP Morgan Chase & Co. as an analyst and was being paid a whopping Rs 28 lakh per annum. His parents had taken a loan of Rs 20 lakh for his education and were happy that he had acquired a job.
However, their joy was short-lived after he decided to quit his high-paying job and focus on UPSC. Interestingly, he did not take any formal coaching and fully focused on self-studies. On a regular basis, he studied continuously for 8-10 hours nonstop.
He also watched videos and online content to increase his knowledge and his hard work finally paid off. He cracked India’s toughest exam on her first attempt and secured an AIR 171. Now, he is an inspiration for many.
