The Civil Services Exam, touted to be one of the toughest competitive exams in India, is only a few months away. Millions of aspirants have already started their preparations and are leaving no stone unturned to fulfill their most cherished dreams.

From reading books, and newspapers, taking classes, and making notes to attempting mock tests, aspirants are trying every means to crack the UPSC. However, there is no secret to crack the UPSC except for hard work, determination, and patience.

However, IFS officer Himanshu Tyagi has shared a few tips to help aspirants crack UPSC Prelims, and subsequently the Mains Exam 2024. In a series of tweets, he has shared how the aspirants should start working hard now. If you are gearing up for UPSC Prelims 2024, this is a must read.

He wrote, “Prelims are the most unpredictable and difficult stage of the UPSC exam. So work hard now. 5.5 months left. Focus on Prelim prep if you haven’t cleared it yet.”

He continued: “Tricks play an important role in Prelims. Without them, it is impossible to crack prelims. Tricks would work only if your basics are strong. So, read as much as you can so that your tricks can work.”

“CSAT is new havoc now. Even IITians are failing in this paper. So, take it seriously. Solve all CSAT PYQs twice. Go for the CSAT test series only if you are done with PYQs. How many questions should you attempt? Start solving mock tests and determine your optimum no. Solve as many mock tests as possible. See what works for you, and what does not. Make your strategy. No spoonfeeding.”

“Solve an MCQ, and learn all associated concepts. Make notes. Revise them at proper intervals. Prelims success = Good knowledge base + Logical reasoning skills + Tricks + Confidence + LUCK. Everything is in your control except Luck. So, work hard on what is in your control. Best Wishes,” he concluded.
