Every year thousands of UPSC aspirants prepare with sheer focus and dedication to crack India’s toughest exam. However, only the dream of a few to become an IAS, IPS, IRS, and IFS get fulfilled.
Today, we will look into the inspiring journey of IAS Chandrajyoti Singh, daughter of an Army officer. Being the daughter of an Army officer, Chandrajyoti had to change schools due to the frequent transfers of her father.
While her father Col. Dalbara Singh served as a radiologist in the Army, her mother was Lt. Col. Meen Singh. Being Army personnel, both her parents encouraged Chandrajyoti to focus more on her studies.
After completing her Class X from Punjab Jalandhar’s APJ School, she went on to pursue her intermediate in Chandigarh’s Bhawan Vidyalaya. She later went on to pursue History (Hons) at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University.
She was in her early 20s, the bug of cracking UPSC bit her and there was no looking back for Chandrajyoti. She started her UPSC preparation journey in June 2018 and kept history as her optional subject.
She used to read the newspapers for 1-2 hours everyday and prepare her own notes. She never missed the weekly revision and mostly focused on mock tests. She also prepared short-term and long-term study goals for herself that she followed throughout her preparation journey.
Her methods and strategy were thoroughly planned and she cleared the Civil Services Exam in her very first attempt, that too with All India Rank (AIR)-28.
She was 22 when she cracked the UPSC and is said to be one of the youngest IAS officers in the country. Currently, she is an IAS officer of the Punjab cadre and is posted as SDM of Mohali.
