With Odisha reeling under intense heatwave conditions, a lot of students, as well as their guardians, are now worried about the conduct of physical mode of teaching in the State under the present circumstances.

University and college students are anxious and at the same time, they are apprehensive about the reopening of their educational institutions. Amidst the confusion, the Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo on Saturday stated that a decision on the extension of college vacation will be taken after a detailed consultation.

According to Sahoo, an appropriate decision will be taken only after taking into account the weather forecast in the coming days.

It is pertinent to mention here that classroom teaching for UG and PG in all higher education institutions has been` suspended (from April 27) till May 2.

The Higher Education department had decided on the temporary suspension of classes on account of the heatwave conditions. Similarly, all technical institutions including ITIs/ Polytechnics/ Engineering and Professional Colleges/ Technical Universities in Odisha are also closed from April 28. The technical institutions will remain shut till May 2.
