Resentment is brewing among students of Class 10 students over alleged inordinate delay by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in announcing timetable of summative 2 examinations.
At a time when dates for Plus II examination and Class 10 board exam conducted by CBSE are already declared, the BSE authorities are yet to announce schedule of summative 2 examinations.
Every year, BSE declares timetable of Class 10 board exam ahead of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE). With two months left for Class 10 board exam to commence, the delay has left students in dilemma, sources claimed.
Notably, the BSE had adopted the alternative method of assessment for awarding marks of all class X equivalent examinations conducted by it during Covid pandemic. And students were not happy with the board results published through the alternative method.
After Covid situation improved, the BSE held annual Class 10 examinations through offline mode last year. And now when they are fully prepared to appear for the examinations, the board's alleged failure in timely announcement of the timetable has irked students.
It is said that the board may hold examination between March 10 and March 19.
Adyasha Sahu, a Class X student, said, “No declaration of date sheet has been made yet. As Class X is the base of students’ career, the government should not play with our future.”
Manaswini Panda, another student, said, “CBSE and CHSE boards have declared dates for holding Class 10 and Plus 2 examination respectively whereas BSE is yet to make any announcement in this regard. Once it is declared, we will start our preparation.”
When asked, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash said, “BSE will soon announce timetable of Summative 2 exam and form fill up date.”
