The Common University Entrance Test for undergraduate programmes (CUET-UG) 2025, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), will now commence on May 13, five days later than originally scheduled. The postponement follows a prolonged silence from the NTA regarding exam city slips and subject-wise schedules, leaving lakhs of aspirants anxious.

Sources confirmed that the revised examination window is expected to run from May 13 through the first week of June. An official confirmation is anticipated shortly, with city intimation slips likely to be released by Tuesday or Wednesday. These slips will inform candidates of their allotted exam city and may also contain information on the specific subjects scheduled for each date.

This year’s CUET-UG has witnessed record-breaking participation, with 13.5 lakh candidates registering for the national-level entrance exam, which serves as a gateway to undergraduate admissions in central, state, and private universities.

Exam to Be Fully Computer-Based in 2025

In a significant change from previous editions, the CUET-UG 2025 will be conducted entirely in computer-based test (CBT) mode across all 37 subjects. Each paper will have a duration of 60 minutes and feature 50 multiple-choice questions. The number of daily exam shifts will vary based on centre availability, with two to three shifts expected per day.

English has emerged as the most popular subject, with over 10 lakh students registered—necessitating at least 10 shifts to accommodate all test-takers. The General Test has also seen over eight lakh registrations, adding to the logistical challenge of scheduling.

Unlike earlier years, the NTA has not released a formal date sheet. Instead, candidates will receive detailed examination information through their city intimation slips. The absence of early communication has raised concerns among students and parents, particularly regarding travel and accommodation arrangements.

As the new examination dates approach, candidates are advised to keep a close watch on the official CUET-UG website for updates and prepare for a condensed exam cycle starting on May 13.
