The Odisha government has decided to conduct a baseline assessment of students of Class VI and VII to identify the learning level as well as learning loss of every individual child.
The State School and Mass Education Department has allowed the reopening of schools in respect of Class VI and Class VII from today (November 15).
The Director of Teacher Education (TE) and SCERT has written to the State Project Director of Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) regarding the conduct of the baseline assessment.
Stating that the students of both the classes are likely to attend the physical classes after 18 months, the TE and SCERT director said, “After reopening of schools, the baseline assessment of the student to know the learning level shall be made by the subject teachers which will help the teachers to identify the learning level as well as learning loss of every individual child.”
“Accordingly, the teacher can design the instructional strategies to ensure each child’s learning progress,” the director added.
The baseline question papers in Odia, English and Mathematics have been developed by the Directorate of TE and SCERT.
The Directorate of TE and SCERT has also fixed schedules for the baseline assessment of the students. While the baseline assessment in Odia will be conducted on November 22, the assessment in English subject will be held on November 23 and Mathematics on November 24.
The OSEPA has also been asked to ensure that the instructional design suggested for Class - VIII students may also be followed for both Class - VI and VII students.
