The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a notification allowing school authorities to make corrections in the particulars of candidates who have appeared in the board exams. This move is intended to ensure that correct results and marks statements are provided to students.

The correction facility was opened on April 9, 2025 and will remain available until April 17, 2025.

Reason for Notification and Compliance Instructions

This notification has been issued after many schools submitted incorrect data to the board, despite repeated instructions. Following this, several schools requested the board to make various corrections in candidate particulars.

CBSE has reiterated that schools must ensure the spelling of the name of the student, mother, and father is accurate and consistent with the school record or the Admission and Withdrawal Register maintained by the school.

Processing Fees and Payment Procedure

A processing fee of Rs 1,000 per candidate will be charged for making corrections in the records of regular candidates. This fee must be deposited by the schools to the respective regional CBSE offices.

Permitted Corrections

The types of correction requests that are allowed in the forms include:

  • Interchange of mother/father name

  • Correction of photograph

  • Correction of date of birth as per rules and based on supporting documents

  • Update in the 'single child' field

  • Correction in gender

  • Minor corrections in the name of mother/father

However, it should be noted that a change in category from General to OBC is not permitted.

Compliance Deadline and Data Verification Responsibilities

The board has made it clear that it will not entertain any correction requests after the closure of this facility. The data finalised during this period will be used to issue marks statements to the candidates.

Schools are also instructed to ensure that the date of birth entered in the data is correct and matches the school record or the Admission and Withdrawal Register.
