In one of the biggest goof-ups during CBSE Class 12 Board exam in Odisha, an alleged carelessness of a school in the state’s Mayurbhanj district has put the future of several students at stake.

Students and parents have brought serious allegations of sheer carelessness and neglect against the authorities of Badasahi Adarsha Vidyalaya in the district.

As per the allegations, the students were taught English Core for two years, but their registration was done by the school authorities in English Elective.

Around 32 students came out of the exam centre crying and accusing the school authorities of carelessness on Tuesday. They further said that even though there was provision for correction, the school authorities didn’t care about mending the error.

The school authorities are yet to respond to the allegations of the students.

English Core Vs English Elective

- English Core is a mandatory subject while English Elective is an optional subject.

- It is believed that the course curriculum of English Elective is more advanced and in-depth as compared to English Core.

- Core courses are required to meet graduation requirements while electives can be chosen based on interest.
