All-boys Sainik School in Bhubaneswar flagged off the admissions of 10 girl students in the first phase of admission for the current academic session (2021-22). The school is all set to increase the number of girl cadets in the coming days, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Central India Lt Gen S Mohan informed on Friday.
The GOC visited the Sainik School in the Capital City today and interacted with the students. He shared his experience and motivated the cadets to realise their duty towards the nation. He also motivated the young cadets to join the defence forces after learning about their goals in life.
While addressing the students and teachers, Lt Gen Mohan said, "Sainik School in Bhubaneswar is one of the oldest Sainik schools and has produced several soldiers, air warriors and sailors who have reached commanding heights."

Addressing the cadets, he said after hearing the valour of their alumni, they would certainly get more inspired to join the forces.
Speaking on the developmental plans at the school, the Lt Gen said, "Approval to set up 100-bed girls hostel has been granted to Bhubaneswar's Sainik School."
He said the 1971 India-Pakistan war golden jubilee victory flame or the 'Swarnim Vijay Mashal' will reach Bhubaneswar on October 20. The victory flame marks the golden jubilee of India's achievement in liberating Bangladesh from Pakistan in 1971.
Earlier in 2019, the Union government had announced to open the doors for girl students in all Sainik Schools across the country. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had directed the concerned authorities to ensure the availability of necessary infrastructure and sufficient female staff in Sainik schools for smooth implementation of the directive.
