Ahead of the admission season, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued a warning to the technical institutions.

In a circular, the AICTE has cautioned the educational institutions about “imposters”. As per official sources, the AICTE has got information that, “People claiming to be the Chairman/ Vice Chairman/ Member Secretary or any other AICTE official (imposters) are approaching Institutions/ Colleges for Admission of Students or Grant of Approvals etc.”

“It is hereby, intimated that no such requests, calls & communications are being made by any of the AICTE officials and hence shall not be entertained and any such incident, be reported to AICTE in the Official Communication email IDs which are available on AICTE website www.aicte-india.org,” the circular read.

The AICTE further warned of criminal proceedings against such people as per law.

Apart from this, AICTE has also issued an important circular regarding linking of academic awards to Digi locker.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Government of India has launched a portal called e-Sanad which is a centralized platform for online document verification/attestation/apostille service for Indian citizens.

It is stated that the e-Sanad portal also provides attestation/apostille service in respect of Indian degrees/diplomas/certificates for their use abroad.

The documents available on National Academic Depository (NAD) and Digilocker are verified online though e-Sanad. In order to facilitate the provision of efficient, fast and contact-less attestation/apostille work related to educational documents online through e-Sanad, MEA has stressed the urgent need for linking the academic awards of educational institutions, universities and school boards to Digilocker as early as possible.

All AICTE approved institutions are requested to upload data of academic awards of their institution with Digilocker, the circular added.
