Amidst the controversy surrounding IAS Puja Khedkar, another IAS officer has been accused of producing fake disability certificates to crack the prestigious UPSC exam. Questions are being raised over former IAS officer Abhishek Singh’s selection in the disability criteria.

The 2011 batch IAS officer resigned last year to become a full-time actor. Currently, the ex-bureaucrat is under fire after social media users dug out his dance and gym videos where he can be seen doing fine although he cleared UPSC with a ‘disability’ certificate.

For the UPSC exam, Abhishek had claimed to have a locomotor disability to avail of concessions. In similar cases, many other IAS and IPS officers have also been accused of misusing the EWS quota to get the job. Angry netizens flooded social media, demanding greater transparency and accountability in the bureaucratic selection process.

However, Abhishek defended himself and said that he is being targeted for supporting reservations.

Taking to his X handle, Singh wrote, “Since I started supporting reservations, anti-reservationists have targeted me. They question my caste. Let me tell you, I have achieved everything through hard work and courage, not through reservation.”
“I believe that reservation in government jobs should be according to the population. If you think you have talent, stop trying for government jobs and excel in business, sports or acting. There is no reservation there,” he added.

Coming back to Puja Khedkar, the 2023-batch IAS officer landed in controversy over using a siren on her private Audi and demanding separate house and car.

Similarly, another IAS officer is currently under scrutiny for producing visually impaired certificate for the job, but was caught acing the driving test.
