Bhubaneswar: Online examinations for 6th semester diploma students will be held in Odisha between 1st and 20th August, 2020, the State Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training on Monday informed through a notification.

State Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (SCTE & VT) stipulated some principles to give an exit opportunity to the Final semester students of 2020 for furtherance of their career amid COVID19 pandemic.

"Students of the 6th semester who have registered for summer exam and paid the requisite fees as per the procedure and have no Back Paper in any of the previous 1st-5th semester may choose to appear for the online semester or opt for an alternative method of award of marks based on their previous semester performances." the notification reads.

Those who have back papers in any previous semester and paid requisite course fees can opt for online examinations for the 6th semester including other back papers.

However, if students having back papers do not opt for online pattern this time, they will have to reappear all previous papers including 6th semester all together in the winter semesters of 2020. Alternate method of awarding marks based on previous performances is not applicable to these students.

SCTE & VT has informed that online examinations will be tentatively held between 1st August and 20th August. Students can appear the exams from their homes.

Keeping issues related to internet access and lack of technical equipments in the eye, State Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training has promised to ensure necessary arrangements for the students.

The council will facilitate students with necessary resources in designated polytechnics and government ITI centres. SCTE & VT in its notification said," It shall provide one such institute in every district of the state for this purpose."

SCTE & VT has decided to follow MCQ pattern for this online examination. Each theory subject papers to be provided with 2 hours time duration.

For practical papers SCTE & VT has decided to give practical marks after taking concerned polytechnics into consideration.
