Keonjhar: Armed dacoits looted about Rs 12 lakh from a State Bank of India (SBI) branch after firing in the air and hurling bombs in Orissa`s Keonjhar district on Monday.

Police said six motor cycle-borne dacoits arrived at the SBI branch at Ukhunda under Baria police station and fired in the air to scare away the customers.

While three of them entered into the bank, the rest waited outside.

The dacoits damaged the close circuit tv and locked the gate before exploding crude bombs to terrorise the employees and customers but none was injured, police said.

After assaulting the bank manager and some employees, the gang decamped with over Rs 12 lakh from the locker.
