Bargarh SP Smit Parmar, who along with an executive magistrate visited the crime spot on Monday, informed that a murder case has been registered and a detailed investigation has been launched to crack the case.

Informing about the investigation so far, Bargarh SP Smith Parmar said, “I inspected the building thoroughly and found bodies of mother and daughter in a room on the first floor and those of father and son in two separate rooms on the ground floor. While three bodies were found in lying state and one found in hanging state.”

He said a murder case has been registered. “While a full investigation team is working, a scientific team is on the job of collecting clues,” informed Parmar.

The police have identified the deceased as Seshadev Meher (55), Kshireswari Meher (48), Arabind Meher (28) and Shivani Meher (20), all members of a weaver family.

Notably, foul smell coming from the building prompted the neighbours and others to inform the police on Sunday. On reaching the spot, a team from Bheden police station led by IIC Sangita Mohapatra broke open the locked house only to find the four bodies.
