Miscreants looted as many as six mobile phones from passengers who were travelling on Mo Bus on Sunday, once again raising serious questions over the safety of Mo Bus passengers.

The loot took place on Mo Bus number 18, which plies on Baramunda-Jagatpur route.

According to a source, Sunday being New Year Day, thousands of tourists from far and near came to Nandankanan zoo. It was when the bus reached the zoo stoppage, there was a mad rush of people trying to get onto the bus. Taking the advantage of the rush and inattentiveness of the passengers, the miscreants targeted some of them and looted six mobile phones.

“We all had boarded the bus from Nandankanan. By the time the bus reached Tulasipur, some of the passengers cried that their mobile phones had been stolen. When checked, mobile phones were looted from six passengers,” alleged a passenger.

It is suspected that miscreants also posing as tourists were trying to get on to the bus among the tourists. But instead of getting into the bus, they decamped with the phones from the passengers.

It may be noted here that, the cases of pickpockets and mobile phone loot in Mo Buses are becoming common. On December 12, on a couple travelling on Mo Bus was robbed off Rs 42,000 near Jaydev Vihar square. The victim had then alleged that the Mo Bus staff was less cooperative. They had also alleged that the bus driver didn’t stop the bus even for a minute despite several pleadings.
