A quack who recently administered injections meant for animals to a man in Mayurbhanj district has reportedly injected another patient with the livestock drugs.
A case has been registered against the quack identified as Biswanath Behera for administering injections to Daitari Mahanta at Mahulidiha village under Thakuramunda block in the district on Monday.
Mahanta, who was suffering from prolonged back pain, was allegedly administered three livestock injections by the quack to get relief from the ailment.
As per reports, Behera introduced himself as a new doctor from Bhubaneswar. Following the check-up, he allegedly administered three livestock injections to Daitari.
Later in the evening, Daitari complained of severe headache and stomachache. He was immediately admitted to Thakurmunda hospital as his condition deteriorated.
“I was suffering from prolonged back pain. As per the assurance of Behera, I was administered the injections at a cost of Rs 500. Initially, I felt a little relief. But later my pain became unbearable,” said Daitari.
Subsequently, Daitari’s son Gajendra Mahanta inquired about the injections which were administered to his father. To his utter surprise, he found that the injections were meant for livestock.
Ganjedra lodged an FIR against the quack in the nearby police station following the incident. Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a manhunt to nab the culprit.
Notably, the quack had allegedly administered livestock injections to another patient in the area a few days back.
