You might have come across several major heists reported from different parts of the country and the world in the past, but there have been some unusual incidents of thefts that have taken many by surprise.
In a recent incident, unidentified miscreants have allegedly stolen around 4000 nut bolts from a bridge built on Saharanpur-Panchkula NH-344 in Yamunanagar in Haryana.
As per ANI, the incident of theft of around 4000 nut bolts from the bridge was reported after an authority engineer inspected the bridge. At present, no written complaint has been given to police from NHAI, SHO Sadar Dinesh Kumar told ANI.
This is not an isolated incident. Earlier, thieves had managed to steal a 60-feet defunct iron bridge in Bihar's Sasaram district in broad daylight in the month of April this year.
The bridge was reportedly constructed over the Arrah canal in 1972 at Amiyawar village.
As per IANS report, a group of men, posing as officers of the Irrigation Department, dismantled the defunct bridge with the help of gas-cutters and earthmovers over three days. By the time the locals realised what was happening and informed the police, they had fled with the scrap, the report added.
