The Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids at six places including the house of Nayagarh Rural Works Subdivision assistant executive engineer Gobinda Chandra Sahoo on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to reports, simultaneous searches are being conducted in Cuttack, Khordha and Nayagarh by teams of the anti-corruption agency led by five DSPs, five inspectors and other staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance and Cuttack.

Searches are underway at Sahoo’s parental house at Kishore Nagar, building at Alisha Bazaar in Cuttack, a flat in Patia, two-storey building at Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar, his house and office in Nayagarh.

While the detailed valuation of the property will be done later, the Vigilance teams are said to have already laid their hands on many crucial documents related to the property of Sahoo.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had recently handed down compulsory retirement to six more State government officials accused of corruption and inefficiency.

As per the data provided by the Chief Minister’s Office, the total count of officials send on compulsory retirement has reached 164 so far.
