CBI nets Delhi EOW cop in Odisha for taking Rs 4.5 lakh bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths on Sunday arrested a constable of Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Delhi in Bhubaneswar on charges of taking Rs 4.5 lakh bribe from a man in the State capital.

The arrested EOW constable has been identified as Amit Lahucha.

According to sources, Lahucha had come to Bhubaneswar to collect the bribe on directions of an EOW inspector.

Meanwhile, raids are underway at the residence of the EOW inspector who reportedly had sent the arrested constable to execute the crime, sources informed.

"A case was registered with EOW in 2016 and one Manoj Seth was arrested in connection with the case. The case is also pending against Lalat Kishore Bhanja. When they demanded the bribe, I had no option other than brining the matter to the notice of CBI," said Udaynath Sahoo, complainant.
