After Archana Nag, another woman nabbed on blackmailing and cheating charges

At a time when more skeletons are expected to tumble out of the cupboard in the alleged Archana Nag blackmailing case in Odisha, a team of Rajasthan Police arrested a woman on the charges of cheating from Bhubaneswar.

The accused, Preeti Desai, was arrested by Rajasthan Kotwali police team with assistance from the local Chandrasekhar police here in the capital city. Preeti, who reportedly hails from Karnataka, is accused of cheating a businessman who hails from Bharatpur district in Rajasthan.

It is alleged that Preeti used to target businessmen and other influential people by establishing contacts through various social media platforms by posing as an IT professional.

Sources said Preeti used to lure her victims into sleazy video chats and subsequently used to blackmail them using such intimate videos. The Rajasthan-based businessman had lodged a formal complaint after Preeti duped him of several lakhs of rupees.

Sources said Preeti had allegedly married the Rajasthan-based businessman in 2017 and was staying with him till 2019. Later, she went missing and subsequently came to Bhubaneswar. Here, she also cheated a businessman in the same fashion.

Senior police officials said that Chandrasekharpur police started an investigation to ascertain whether other people have also been duped by the 42-year-old conwoman.
