Crime rate is going up in Gujarat: Congress

Rajkot: Opposition leader in Gujarat assembly, Shaktisinh Gohil, today alleged that Narendra Modi government had failed to handle the law and order situation and the crime rate had gone up in state.

Gohil led Congress`s `Sardar Sandesh Yatra` into Rajkot on Saturday night. At a public meeting at Dhebar Chowk, he criticised Modi government for not taking any action to curb the crime. "Crime rate has gone up in the entire state but the Chief Minister is not concerned and is busy wasting money on Sadbhavna fasts," Gohil said.

He said that if Modi government was clean, then it should appoint Lokayuta in the state without hesitation. Modi created hurdles in the appointment of Lokayukta because of fear of exposure of corruption of his government, the Congress leader alleged.

Gohil promised to abolish service tax and surcharge on patrol and diesel if Congress came to power. "Modi government has slapped a huge tax on fuel, and the money is being used for Modi`s Sadbhavna fasts," he said.
