Bhubaneswar: Crime Branch has undertaken the investigation into the murder of BSF jawan who was brutally beaten to death by unidentified miscreants at Pahanga near Galabari under Niali police limits.

A team headed by an SP comprising of two inspectors would investigate the matter. Meanwhile, Crime Branch has registered two cases pertaining to this case.

On April 6,  2011, the BSF jawan identified as Samir Ranjan Nayak was beaten to death at Galabari near Niali.

The deceased hailing from Jagatsinghpur was intercepted by some miscreants near Niali and was mercilessly beaten to death while he was on his way to see a relative.

As per reports, the jawan who had come to his native village at Erada two months ago had picked up quarrel with some local villagers.

It is suspected that the killing of the jawan was fallout of past rivalry.
