The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday declared a hostel at the prestigious Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) as micro-containment zone after 30 students tested positive for Covid-19.
As per preliminary reports, all the infected students have been kept under isolation at the hostel and necessary medical assistance is being provided by the civic body.
The process of contact tracing has also been initiated by a BMC team. It is pertinent to mention here that the spike in Covid-19 cases in Bhubaneswar has now forced the civic administration to clamp restrictions in order to check unnecessary movement of people.
As per latest report, 18 places, including several flats in different parts of the city have been declared micro-containment zones following detection of Covid-19 cases today. With this, the total number of micro-containment zones in Bhubaneswar has reached 38 so far.
Earlier in the day, Odisha witnessed the biggest single day spike with 3,679 new Covid-19 cases. A maximum of 1233 cases were reported from Khordha district, followed by 582 in Sundergarh, 372 in Sambalpur and 310 new cases from Cuttack district.
