Bhubaneswar: Odisha will witness a further fall in the rate of Covid infections in the next seven to ten days, State Health Services Director Bijay Mohapatra informed reporters today.
The present trend of the viral cases in the second wave of the pandemic shows that the positivity will take a more downward trend. The State has the present TPR of below 10%.
On concerns over the unabated trend of the high number of fatalities, Mohapatra clarified that it can be attributed to a large number of critically-ill patients undergoing treatment at various healthcare centres. Nearly 60% of critical patients are still under hospitalisation. Due to serious condition, a large number of patients are losing their battle against the disease, he said.
On vaccination status, the top doctor said that presently the people awaiting second doses of the vaccines are being given priority. In the age group of 18 to 44 years, those having already recieved their first jabs will recive their final doses because if not done in time, their first jabs would be rendered worthless.
All necessary facilities are in place for Covid vaccination of people at 22 district headquarters hospitals. However, the State government is planning to set up sessions in a plan as per reciept of the vaccines from the Centre.
Even though there is no hundred per cent curative medicine for the treatment of Covid-19 a task force has been established by the Centre which authorises all necessary treatment protocols and medicines for Covid-19. Odisha government is only following the suggestions of the special task force.
