Odisha Health Minister Naba Das on Saturday urged the Centre to revise its Covid-19 vaccine allocation ratio between states and private hospitals.
In a letter to the Centre, Das said that the private hospitals in Odisha provide health services to only 5 per cent of the State population and hence, the government needs to be given a larger share.
He said that the Additional Chief Secretary of the State Health and Family Welfare Department PK Mohapatra had earlier written to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare while urging reconsideration and change in the guidelines for implementation of Covid vaccination programme.

The Health Minister further said that to help Odisha achieve 100 per cent vaccination in the State, the Centre should allocate vaccines between the government and the private hospitals in the ratio of 95:05 per cent instead of the prevalent 75:25 per cent.
ACS (Health) Mohapatra had also earlier sought an increase in the State government's share of Covid vaccine to 95 per cent from 75 per cent and allocation of 5 per cent vaccine to private hospitals in the State.
Due to poor presence of private hospitals in the health care sector in the State, the government and private vaccine allocation ratio of 75:25 may be revised to 95:05 ratio, Mohapatra had said in the letter.
