Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced Rs 1,690 crore assistance package for landless farmers, construction workers, poor and tribals in the State who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
As per the announcement, Rs 207 crore has been allocated to all landless farmers which will be disbursed in three installments. The landless farmers under State-sponsored KALIA scheme will get an additional Rs 1,000 assistance in view of Covid-19.
Similarly, the labourers will be paid an extra Rs 50 other than their daily wage under MGNREGA scheme.
Patnaik launched Mukta scheme to provide employment to the urban poor. Moreover, the CM also announced to provide 5 kg free rice each to the beneficiaries under State food security scheme from July to November.
While families of 13 scheduled tribes will get Rs 5000 each under the assistance package, the scholarship of SC and ST students will be credited to their parents' accounts.
Similarly, divyang students, who are not enrolled in special schools, will get a scholarship of Rs 200 to Rs 350 from April till June, while students of special schools will get Rs 1245 per month towards their food expenses, the CM declared.
Patnaik also announced Rs 1500 assistance each for registered construction workers in the State.
