Bhubaneswar: Tightening noose on Covid-19 lockdown norms violators, Commissionerate Police on Thursday imposed a complete ban on activities like morning walk, evening walk and cycling in the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar during the lockdown period.
Addressing the media, Twin City Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi said, “As per the lockdown norms, morning walk, evening walk and cycling have been prohibited. The move aims at restricting crowd on the roads during the restriction period.”
“The State government has imposed lockdown and weekend shutdown to cull the spread of coronavirus. The citizens in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar have been cooperating and police is working as a friend and facilitator,” he said.
“A 24X7 Dial-100 facility is available in the Twin City. People can dial the number in any emergency. A helpline number has also been launched for the senior citizens and employees of the industries and corporate houses are given relaxation to go to their workplaces provided they have authorisation letter,” the top cop added
“E-pass arrangement through WhatsApp for marriage and funeral has been done,” he stated.
Moreover, Additional DG (Law & Order) Yashwant Jethwa has cautioned that stringent action will be taken against those involved in black marketing and hoarding of Covid-19 essentials.
“As many as 22 flying squads have been formed to check hoarding and black marketing of drugs and medical supplies for treatment of the deadly disease. Furthermore, action will be taken against the private hospital who are charge more for Covid-19 treatment,” Jethwa said.
“Around Rs 2.8 crore fine has been collected from Covid guideline violators, 71 cases have been registered, 269 arrested and 8300 vehicles seized,” he added.
