Keonjhar: At a time when seriously infected Covid-19 patients are grappling with acute oxygen shortage at various hospitals, some individuals and social organisations have come forward with a determination to save precious human lives with free oxygen services during a time of crisis.
Setting an inspiration for others, Ashok Sharma, a young entrepreneur from Keonjhar has turned good Samaritan for Covid 19 patients who are in home isolation.
Sharma with the help of other social workers has sacrificed his own oxygen cylinders which he kept for his own industries, for treatment of others at free of cost.

He said the humanitarian act gives him immense satisfaction.
“I had three small oxygen cylinders which I had kept for my business purpose. One of my associates, Bibhuti Bhai- owner of Om Sri Sai Industries, gave us 20 jumbo cylinders. We are using these cylinders in Covid patients’ treatment,” Sharma said adding “ we don’t charge anything from the patients.”
“The service gives me immense pleasure. We get an opportunity to serve needy people during a time of pandemic,” he added.
The long-way travel and hefty expenditure to refill the cylinders has not posed any hindrance before him, he said.
Another social organization- Federation of Blood Donor Organisations Of Odisha- has also lent helping hands to the needy. The association has launched ‘oxygen on-wheel service’ in twin city Cuttack-Bhubaneswar.
The members of the association are toiling hard 24X7 to provide oxygen at door-step with free of cost to the covid patients who are under treatment in home isolation.
“We have shared a dedicated contact number and requested people who are in need of oxygen to dial us at any time. We would immediately reach them with oxygen-filled cylinder,” said Santosh Mohanty, a member of the federation.
