Health Center Employee 'Sells' Covid Vaccines In Odisha's Keonjhar, Inquiry Ordered

Even as Odisha grapples with a shortage of Covid-19 vaccines for the ongoing mass inoculation drive, an alleged instance of illegal selling of vaccines by a Community Health Center employee has come to light in the district on Sunday.

People of Sarala village under Anandpur block have complained before the Medical Officer of Salania Community Health Center that an employee of the health center has sold some vials of vaccines to some individuals.

According to reports, the employee carried 120 doses of vaccines in 12 bottles to the health center meant for public vaccination.

However, it was later found in the hospital that one bottle was completely empty.

The villagers alleged that the employee had sold those vaccines to some individuals on the way.

The medical officer of the health center has promised to look into the incident following the complaint by locals.

"I have received the complaint and ordered an enquiry. Currently I don't have much knowledge about the incident. But I assure that theallegations will be looked into. If the concerned employee is found guilty, stern action will be taken against him," said Medical Officer Prabhat Nayak.
