Covid-19 vaccination for beneficiaries in the age group of 12-14 years will begin in Odisha from Wednesday, on the occasion of the National Vaccination Day.
The drive will continue at all government vaccination centres through online registration or onsite walk-in.
State Health Department sources said that those who have attained the age of 12 years on the date of vaccination will receive the vaccine. If the beneficiary is registered but not attained 12 years as on the date of vaccination, he/she will not be illegible to take the vaccine.
“The beneficiaries have to produce their birth certificate or any other relevant documents to get the jabs. Since there is no facility in the Cowin portal for the registration of 12-14 years age group yet, vaccination will be given to the beneficiaries through onsite walk-in in the first phase,” said State Director of Family Welfare, Bijay Panigrahi.
“The school teachers will help in the vaccination drive. The Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs) have been directed to run the drive as per the school timing in the first phase. The Education Department will coordinate with the SC-ST Department to streamline the drive,” said Panigrahi, adding that dedicated centers will be set up for the vaccination of the children gradually in the next phases.
Notably, Corbevax will be administered to this age group and after a gap of 28 days the second dose of the vaccine will be administered.
