The Covid-19 fatalities in Khordha crossed 1000-mark with 69 more deaths due to the virus in Odisha on Friday. Of the total cases, the Capital city of Bhubaneswar, which falls under the jurisdiction of Khordha, has reported almost 70 per cent of the deaths.
The data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department on Friday, revealed 69 deaths due to the virus, pushing the State’s toll to 5,377.
It is pertinent to mention here that, as per the State Health department, the shared list of fatalities does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day, rather it is the‘details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19’.

Out of the 69 fatalities reported today, Khorhda district alone registered the maximum 26 deaths. With this, the death toll in the district surged to 1,003.
What’s more concerning here is that Bhubaneswar has alone recorded over 70 percent (70.89 percent to be exact) of the total Covid deaths in the district.
The Capital city has reported a total of 711 deaths due to Covid-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic, as per a data of health department.
Odisha on Friday reported 1,917 new Covid-19 cases, taking the State’s positive tally to 9,63,851. Of the fresh cases, a total of 1,109 cases were reported from quarantine centers while the rest 808 were local transmission cases, informed the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department.
Khordha district topped the list in positives cases with 518 infections in the last 24 hours. This was followed by Cuttack (256) and Puri (118).
The active caseload in the State stood at 19,261 while 9,39,160 patients have recovered from the disease, added the I&PR department.
The State has so far tested a total of 1,53,57,771samples including 79,372on Thursday. Odisha’s positivity rate currently stands at 2.45 per cent.
