Bhubaneswar : Odisha again crossed 10, 000 mark in single-day Covid spike with 10, 649 people testing positive for the contagious disease in last 24 hours. The fresh cases took the State's cumulative count to 57, 6297.
Of the new cases, 5,965 infections have been detected from quarantines centres while 4684 are local contacts.
As many as 47,3680 patients have recovered from the disease so far with 8547 new recoveries reported in last 24 hours. The State’s active cases stood at 10,0313 .
Similarly, the total death toll in the State climbed to 2251 with 19 fresh fatalities.
Although there are ups and downs in the daily positive cases in almost all districts, Khordha maintains a steady 1000 plus new infections every day. The district reported 1557 new cases in the last one day.
It has been reporting 1000 plus cases everyday for more than a week out of which the bulk is from the State Capital Bhubaneswar.
With 930 new cases, Cuttack went up to the second position in daily count while Sundergarh, which continued to remain in the second spot for last several days, came down to the third place with 774 fresh cases.
Angul became the fourth district which has been badly affected with 557 cases followed by Balasore at 503. Sambalpur and Mayurbhanj districts experienced a rise in single-day spike with 494 and 404 fresh infections respectively.

Malkangiri and Kandhamal continue to be least affected districts registering less than 100 infections in single-day count.
As many as 216 new cases have been detected from Bhadrak district, 232 from Boudh, 220 from Dhenkanal, 245 from Ganjam, 278 from Jagatsinghpur, 263 from Kalahandi, 207 from Nabarangpur and 267 from State pool.
