The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Friday sealed Signal the Headquarters Training School at Tulasipur in Cuttack after 15 students tested positive for Covid-19.
Sources said the school has been directed to remain closed till January 14. The Deputy Commissioner of CMC has written a letter to the school authorities in this regard.
“It came to our notice that as many as 15 trainees out of 56 found Covid-19 positive in the institute for which contact tracing as well as sample testing of remaining trainees and their family members are quite necessary,” the letter read.
The CMC Deputy Commissioner also requested the school authorities to contact Smruti Ranjan Samal, the medical officer of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation control room, for the necessary contact and sample tracing.
“Further I am directed to instruct you to close your institute till January 14, 2022 till completion of contract tracing and sample testing,” the letter further read.
Notably, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued an order to close down all the colleges/Universities/Technical Education institutions under the Odisha government from Jan 10 till Feb 1, 2022 in view of the spike in number of Covid-19 cases in the State. Prior to that, the SRC had issued another order on Wednesday, announcing the suspension of physical teaching in schools and junior colleges across the State from today (January 7) till February 1. This apart, the timings of night time curfew in urban areas have been extended to 9 pm to 5 am from the earlier 10 am to 5 am.
