The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be launching a special drive to administer the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 to 44 years.
The two-day drive will be underway between June 8 and 9, informed BMC additional Commissioner, Laxmikant Sethi on Friday. According to Sethi, initially there were certain difficulties in vaccinating the urban homeless, especially those who do not have Aadhaar cards. A special drive was carried out to conduct a survey and nearly 48 people were vaccinated at Niladri Vihar area today.

Informing about the special drive to vaccinate people in the age group of 18-44 years, the BMC Additional Commissioner said, “Those who had taken the first dose on May 3, 4 and 5 will be administered the second dose during the special drive starting from next week.”
According to Sethi, the BMC will intimate the beneficiaries who had taken the first jab through mobilisation centres about the second dose dates. The beneficiaries will have to take the second dose at the same centres where they were administered the first shot, he added.
Similarly, those who had taken the first jab after booking slots from the CoWIN portal, will have to book slots for the second dose.
Clearing the air on vaccinating journalists, the BMC official said that a special drive will also be launched soon to administer the second dose of the vaccine to the frontline warriors in the city.
The special drive will be launched at Unit-6 Girls High School, Sethi added.
