Conman posing as ISRO scientist arrested

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police apprehended a fake scientist and forwarded him to court here on charges of fraud, duping and using fake identity, police said on Saturday.
The conman identified as Ayaskant Moharana who claimed to be working as a research scientist at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was arrested by police from Vani Vihar area on Friday night.
Police officials nabbed Moharana following complaints of fraud and duping lodged by the victims of the fake scientist. This apart, the cops have seized a fake identity card from Moharana’s possession.
As per the fake identity card, Moharana was designated as Additional Chief Research Officer at ISRO and was dealing with space oriented applications at the country’s premier space research institute.
Moharana used to dupe people by introducing himself as a scientist at ISRO. Besides this, he had mounted a red light on the top of his car and the license plate (commonly known as number plate) was embossed as ‘Department of Space, Government of India’ on his four-wheeler.
