Congress is only covering scandals: BJP

New Delhi: BJP on Thursday attacked the Congress for "lack of governance" in the states ruled by the party and warned of public outrage on the streets in case it did not respond to the call of the people.

"It is no more an isolation. The Congress party whereever they are in governance, whether Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, does not seem to be governing. It is only covering up for scandals," said BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman.

She said "we issue a warning that if it does not respond to the call of the people, and especially so where it is having a bearing on industry and agriculture in so many states, the sense of outrage of the people is not going to take too long to come on the streets."

The BJP leader also talked about the power crisis engulfing the southern states due to the "mishandling" of the situation in Andhra Pradesh, which led to closure of power plants in the wake of the Telangana agitation.

"At least six southern states are facing severe power crisis due to this situation," she said.
She also charged the Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra with inaction in implementing power generation agreements, which has led to severe power crisis. She estimated a 10,000 MW shortage of power in Andhra Pradesh and 6,000 MW shortage in Maharashtra today. The BJP leader added Congress owed an explanation to the people as there was "absence of a committed good governance agenda in Congress-ruled states".
