New Delhi: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday sought stern action against Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy for writing his article in which he suggested taking away the voting rights of Muslims.

"I strongly condemn the most communal views expressed by Subramanian Swamy. I strongly feel that action should be taken against him as per law,", Singh told reporters here.

Singh said he also endorsed the demand made by some students of Harvard University that people like Swamy should not be allowed to lecture in prestigious institutes like theirs for having written such articles. "I strongly endorse what the Harvard students have demanded."

Earlier, speaking at a book release function at India International Centre, Singh said he was ashamed that such persons were there in this country, while referring to Swamy.

"I am ashamed that such people live in this country and get an opportunity to write such articles in eminent papers."
