Sivaganga: Highlighting the role played by banks, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram today said every year some 7,000 branches are being opened.
 
On an average, 20-21 bank branches are being opened daily, he said after inaugurating SBI's two branches at Sivaganga and Sillukkapatti, the 14,833 and 14,834th respectively in the district.
 
Those present at the function included SBI Chairman Pratip Chaudhari.
