Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said the way the Centre was eliciting views on bringing a legislation for a stronger Lokpal was "inappropriate".

"The way the Centre is trying to elicit views on bringing a legislation for an effective and bold Lokpal is not appropriate", Kumar told reporters on the sidelines of the Janata Darbar programme.

"According to the settled process, enactment of a legislation is the work of Parliament and the proposal to this effect is being brought forth by the Centre", he said.

Kumar said hence, it would be appropriate for the Centre to first finalise its views and draft a proposal before asking for inputs from other quarters.

"I can be able to pass on my views only when I receive a draft proposal on the Lokpal", Kumar clarified.
