Rayagada: After the state government ordered a crime branch inquiry into the murder of the two brothers of BJD leader N. Bhaskar Rao in the famous Majhighariani temple murder case, a two-member investigating team reached here to inquire into the incident.

The investigating team headed by DSP, Crime Branch, Banka Bihari Murmu assigned to look into the twin murders which took place on May 1 on the premises of a templehas already talked to Rao and collected the preliminary information.

"After examining the case records, we will start our own investigation," said DSP and investigating officer of crime branch Banka Bihari Murmu.

“I have faith in the ongoing investigation and hope that the justice will be done,” said N. Bhaskar Rao, BJD leader and chairman of Orissa Rural Housing and Development Corporation (ORHDC).

The incident has created a turmoil in the district unit of the ruling party, with a section of BJD leaders accusing Koraput MP Jayaram Pangi of being involved in the murders. However, Pangi has refuted all the allegations saying that he was being falsely implicated in the case.

Targeting Pangi — Rao has leveled accusations against Pangi for his degrading remarks on tribals for working as per Rao’s instructions, allegedly insulting the ability of the whole community. However, Pangi has issued no comments on Rao’s statement.

The political tug of war between Pangi and Rao — the two prominent leaders of the undivided Koraput district which has been hotting up for sometime is now about to boil at the seams.
