Kolkata: Calling upon the present generation not to be entirely dependent on downloading musical tracks, eminent vocalist Pt Ajay Chakraborty asked music lovers to buy audio CDs and promote the cause of musicians.

Launching `Live in Concert`, the exclusive archival collection of classical ragas and compositions, by sitarist Purbayan Chatterjee to mark the sesquicentennial birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda here last evening, Chakraborty said, "I am not suggesting you should discard digital technology, or you should bar yourself from embracing the modern tools of music. But to sustain an initiative by artistes like Purbayan, one need to buy CDs that will also help in understanding and appreciating music," he said.

The album comprising raga darbari, raga multani and raga hansadhwani carries recording of Purbayan`s live performance in Japan. Purbayan said, "Thanks to my Japanese student Hiroko Tomisawa the concert happened which paid tribute to the legend Ustad Amir Khan saab and its success later made us decide in bringing out the live recording in CD form."

The CD was launched at the Vivekananda Hall of the Ramkrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, where some monks of the mission were present.
