The prices of petrol and diesel have remained mostly unchanged at different places in Odisha on Monday. There has been no major changes in the rates of the fuel for nearly two months now.
Customers are reportedly paying Rs 103.19 per litre of petrol in Bhubaneswar while diesel is being sold at Rs 94.76 a litre. In Cuttack, customers are paying Rs 103.54 and Rs 95.10 per litre of petrol and diesel, respectively.
In other districts of Odisha, like Malkangiri, Ganjam and Sambalpur petrol is being sold at Rs 108.92, Rs 104.66 and Rs 104.39 respectively. Similarly, it is being sold at Rs 104.22 in Bhadrak and Rs 107.79 in Koraput.
Last week, the Maharashtra government announced a reduction in the VAT on petrol (Rs 5) and diesel (Rs 3). The government on July 1 slapped a Rs 6 per litre tax on exports of petrol and ATF and Rs 13 per litre on exports of diesel.
The government also slapped a Rs 23,230 per tonne additional tax on domestically produced crude oil to take away windfall gains accruing to producers from high international oil prices, a separate government notification showed.
