The Commissionerate Of CT & GST on Saturday said that Odisha has clocked 40 per cent growth in terms of the gross collection of GST during September 2021.
As per official sources, the GST collection of Rs 3325.94 crore was recorded in September this year against the collection of Rs. 2383.99 crore during September 2020. The State has registered a growth of 40 percent and it is the highest amongst all major states in India.
“The progressive GST collection till September 2021 is Rs. 20303.86 crore against Rs. 12272.98 crore till September 2020 with growth of 65.44 per cent. The corresponding collection till September 2019 was Rs. 15026.08 crore,” The Commissionerate Of CT & GST said in a release.

As per the official statement, a collection of Rs.772.93 crore was made in CGST, Rs 996.48 crore in IGST and Rs 626.85 crore in Cess during September this year. With these figures, the State has recorded a growth of 55.46 per cent in CGST, 30.56 per cent in IGST and 27.28 per cent in Cess in September 2020, respectively.
The total collection of VAT (Petrol and Liquor) stood at Rs. 807.81 crore this year (September) against Rs. 577.27 crore recorded during September last year. The growth rate stands at 40 percent.
Senior officials said that the healthy GST growth during September this year is a result of better compliance by dealers having turnover of more than Rs. 5 crore as well as follow up action of non-filer assessment and return scrutiny in case of wrong return filers.
“All Circles have been instructed to ensure at least 90 per cent return filing within due date. In the current FY, 21905 notices have been issued to non-filers while 4303 numbers of assessment initiated for non filing of returns. The total e-waybill generated during September 2021 was 13.67 lakh against 12.33 Lakh during September ’20,” the statement read.
“About 4000 fake registrants who were eroding the net tax revenue of The State by claiming/ passing fake credit were also weeded out through a special “post registration verification drive” conducted by State Tax Officials throughout the State from July to September 21,” the release added.
