Qatar has been under the global spotlight since the FIFA World Cup first kicked off on November 20. Though exotic cars are nothing new for the Gulf country, until now, Qatar’s fleet of police cars have slipped under the radar. Just like its neighbor next-door Dubai, Qatar has apparently added sophisticated high-performance cars to its police fleet to maintain law and order situation in the country during the football extravaganza.
The Qatar Police have inducted the $230,000 Lamborghini’s SUV, Urus since the start of the World Cup on November 20.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Qatar Police boasts a massive fleet of Porsche Panameras and Cayennes, and even a Lamborghini Gallardo in its security fleet and the new Urus just adds much more glitz and strength to the convoy.
Right before the beginning of the historic first World Cup in the Middle East, Lamborghini opened an exclusive floating pop-up lounge in Doha in an attempt to increase its presence in Qatar.
The opening of the lounge, which will stay open till December 18, also marked the debut of the range-topping Lamborghini Urus Performante in the Middle East and Africa market for the Italian supercar manufacturer.
However, Qatar is not the only nation whose police force now includes a Lamborghini Urus. The Urus, along with the Merc G-Wagen, is possibly the most practical police car in the glittering lineup, and the Dubai Police Department increased its large collection of exotic police cars by adding the SUV back in March. The renowned police fleet in Dubai includes everything from ultra-stylish Ferraris to supremely opulent Rolls-Royces and even Bentleys.
The Lamborghini Urus has just received a mid-cycle facelift, increasing its variation lineup to include a track-focused Performante on top and an entry-level Urus S version. The identical 4.0-liter V8 that generates 666 horsepower powers both the models. The Urus Performante has a top speed of 190 mph and claims to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in under 3.3 seconds.
