Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch at least two facelift versions of its existing models this year. While all eyes are on the new Swift facelift hatchback which made debut in Japan earlier, the Dzire sedan was recently spotted testing too.
In 2021, Maruti introduced a facelifted version of the third generation Dzire with updated styling and new features.
The sub-compact sedan will renew its rivalry with the likes of Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor and Honda Amaze when it is launched, which is expected to take place sometime later this year. This will be the first major facelift of India's best-selling model in this segment since 2016.
The new Maruti Dzire is likely to remain similar in terms of its dimensions. It will come based on the same platform which also underpins the upcoming Swift facelift hatchback. The sub-compact sedan is expected to get design updates in line with the Swift facelift hatchback.
Though the test mule barely gives away anything, the new Dzire is likely to get a new set of LED headlight and taillight units, updated bumper and grille, redesigned alloy wheels among other changes. The silhouette of the Dzire test mule appears to have no major changes in terms of design.
The upcoming Maruti compact sedan is set to share the new 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine, codenamed Z12, with the Swift. This engine will more likely be available with manual, automatic, and CNG options, providing a comprehensive range for consumers. The largest car producer in the country aims to maintain the Dzire’s status as the bestselling sedan in India with this comprehensive update.
While the test mules of the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift have been caught on public roads before too, it is expected to be introduced in mid-2024. However, no official confirmation has been made yet. Expect it to be priced slightly higher than the outgoing model as it could cost around Rs. 6.99 lakh for the base variant.
