The Indian car market is a tough nut to crack and not an easy one to survive for manufacturers. Car makers need to always be on their toes to survive this highly competitive market. They have to keep on updating existing cars or bring newer models.
The competition however augurs well for the buyers who get to chose from a wide variety of choices in almost every segment. So, if you are planning to buy a new car or upgrade the old one, this 2023 can just be the year for you. With likely launches of Maruti’s much anticipated Jimny and Nissan’s Qashqai, the car buyers are set for a bonanza this year.
Maruti Jimny:
Suzuki had revealed the fourth-gen Jimny for both the Japanese as well as the European market back in 2018. However, it is still awaited in Indian market. As per reports, Maruti is also working on Jimny 5-door for the Indian market. Other than that, it could get a newer engine and more features. Maruti could unveil the car at the Auto Expo of 2023.
New Hyundai Verna
Hyundai is working on a new-generation Verna. The car will be bigger and more premium than the outgoing model. So much so that the Korean automaker has let go of the Elantra in India saying the new Verna will make it up for them. Other than that, it could get several new features. Hyundai could unveil the car at the Auto Expo of 2023.
Hyundai Stargazer
Currently, Hyundai doesn’t have an affordable MPV in its lineup. The Stargazer is said to fill in this gap to take on Maruti Ertiga and Kia Carens. The Stargazer comes with a very unique design and features like ADAS, among others.
Tata Altroz EV
Altroz EV could be another feather in Tata Motors’ lineup of EVs. The Indian automaker has showcased the Altroz EV at various Auto Expos. Tata could launch the Altroz EV in the first half of 2023.
Citroen eC3 electric
This month, Citroen plans to introduce the C3 in its all-electric configuration. The eC3 designation for the electric hatchback has also been verified by the French automaker. With the exception of the absence of a tailpipe and the addition of a new charging port on the front fender, the eC3 will continue to be nearly identical to its ICE predecessor.
Mahindra XUV400
Unveiled in September 2022, the Mahindra XUV400 sports a similar design to its ICE-powered sibling, but gets some EV-specific touches that are clearly inspired by the eXUV300 concept.
Nissan Qashqai
Nissan has begun testing the Qashqai in India. Before bringing the Qashqai to India, Nissan would put it through rigorous testing. The Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass will be competitors of the Qashqai.
