Maruti bets big on Swift CNG, promises best fuel efficiency in segment

Indian auto maker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited on Friday announced the launch of the S-CNG variant of its iconic hatchback Swift.

The new Swift S-CNG offers a fuel efficiency of 30.90 Km/kg, making it India’s most most fuel-efficient CNG hatchback, the company claims.

Powered by the advanced 1.2L K-series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine, the new Swift S-CNG delivers a peak power of 57kW (77.49PS) @6000rpm and max Torque of 98.5Nm@4300rpm.

Launching the Swift S-CNG, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Shashank Srivastava said, “Brand Swift needs no introduction and the hatchback is now available with proven & tested company-fitted Maruti Suzuki S-CNG technology.”

“This will be the 9th model in our portfolio with CNG offering, strengthening our commitment to a cleaner and greener environment. It is the right proposition for customers, looking for a peppy yet economical city drive,” Srivastava said.

The S-CNG vehicles come with dual interdependent Electronic Control Units (ECU) and an injection system to provide an air-fuel ratio that ensures superior performance with better savings.

The S-CNG vehicles are equipped with stainless steel pipes and joints to avoid corrosion and any kind of leakage in the entire CNG structure, integrated wire harnesses are used to eliminate short-circuiting and a microswitch ensures that the vehicle is off and does not start during CNG fuel filling process, a company press release stated.

Price of the Vxi variant is Rs 7,77,000 while the Zxi is priced at Rs 8,45,000 (Ex-showroom, Delhi)

The Swift S-CNG can also be owned through Maruti Suzuki Subscribe at an all-inclusive monthly subscription fee starting from INR 16 499/-
