Korean automaker Kia teased the facelift version of its compact SUV Sonet in India.
Kia has officially confirmed that the India-spec Sonet will make its debut on December 14, with pricing to be disclosed early next year. This will be the small SUV's first mid-lifecycle revision since this Korean sub-4 metre SUV debuted back in September 2020.
While a teaser video revealed some design details and what we can expect on the inside, prices for the Sonet facelift will be announced next year.
The teaser shows that the Sonet facelift gets new LED headlights that are somewhat similar to those on the current Seltos. The light units are almost framed on three sides by the new LED DRLs. The front bumper has been replaced with a new unit, which houses horizontally-mounted fog lights below the intakes.
As for the interior, the new Sonet will continue to get a feature-rich cabin with a large infotainment screen, revised HVAC panel and aircon vents, auto-dimming IRVM, Bose-sourced music system, semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, wireless charger, ambient lighting, and all-black interior theme.
Most significantly, the Sonet facelift will get autonomous driving assistance systems, reported Autocar India. Sources said that like its sibling and rival, the Hyundai Venue, Kia’s compact SUV will also get Level 1 ADAS such as forward collision warning lane departure warning, forward collision avoidance assistance and warning, high beam assist, lane keeping assist and more.
The existing 83PS and 115Nm, 1.2-litre petrol engine, the 120PS and 172Nm, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 116PS and 250Nm, 1.5-litre diesel engine are anticipated to be retained in the Sonet facelift. The petrol engine is likely to be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the turbo-petrol and diesel engines will continue to use the 6-speed iMT. They will also receive a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 6-speed automatic transmission, respectively.
