Honda has taken the veils off the much-awaited XL750 Transalp at the EICMA 2022 in Milan. The motorcycle is the company’s new entrant in the middleweight adventure bike segment.
XL750 Transalp is based on the same platform that underpins the recently launched CB750 Hornet. Hornet’s street-naked sibling, the Transalp, hence shares the 755cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. The engine in the Transalp makes 92hp of power at 9,500rpm and churns out 75Nm of peak torque at 7,250rpm. With this output, the Japanese automaker aims to take BMW F 850 GS, Triumph Tiger 900 Rally, and even the KTM 890 Adventure, head on.

As per a report in Autocar India, the bike has five modes as far as its electronics are concerned – Sport, Standard, Rain, Gravel and Individual. Being an off-roader, the latter allows the rider to adjust the 5-step traction control, three-level engine braking and two ABS settings as per preference.
All settings are accessed via the TFT display which also features Bluetooth connectivity. Each mode adjusts the engine performance and throttle map and can be switched on the fly via the left-hand switch cube on the handlebar controls. A User mode also allows the rider to further personalise and customise the bike’s electronics to specific requirements.
Honda has made the Transalp lighter with 208 kg of kerb weight. It has a 17-litre fuel tank, and gets 200 mm of suspension travel. It has got a 210 mm of ground clearance, and a 21-inch spoked front wheel to take on off-road duties.
Engine Power (EP) of the Transalp has four levels, Engine Brake (EB) has three levels, ABS has two levels, and the Honda Selectable Torque Control System has five levels (HSTC). It also has wheelie control, and the front wheel's two-piston callipers grip 310 mm discs to manage braking. On the back wheel, a single-piston calliper with standard ABS grips a 256 mm wave disc.
In the first quarter of 2023, the new Honda XL750 Transalp is anticipated to be released in Europe. There hasn't been any announcement about a debut in India as of yet, but as per sources, Honda will likely launch it in India too.
